Waffles As Perfect Breakfast

Waffles can be a perfect breakfast for many, which means it is balanced with nutrients and brings the right energy boost in the morning. For those who prefer sweet combinations for breakfast instead of eggs and bacon. Also, it is an ideal breakfast to surprise beloved ones or for special occasions. Waffles can be combined with many additives. The most popular are butter and maple syrup, but many combine them with seasonal fruit and powdered sugar. Also, chicken and waffles are gaining more and more popularity as a sweet and savoury combination.

How To Make Perfect Waffle

For making a perfect waffle, you have to follow some instructions and there are a few very important steps. Firstly, you should use quality ingredients. Waffles originate from Belgium and it is considered the national dish, so this means they need to be made perfectly to fit all requirements. Since they are made of eggs and butter, they are very nutritious and used to be sold as festive food. The inside of the waffle should be rich and silk, while they need to have a crispy crust. Waffles should be flaky, so it means you need to use a raising agent for the batter. In the older times, they used yeast, but baking powder is a more modern option. It is recommended to combine it with baking soda for better results. Using buttermilk is crucial to get rich and thick butter combined with baking soda. The liquid part is very important and while many use milk as a substitute, buttermilk will provide more acidity for better rising. Usually, plain flour is used, but you can add a handful of cornmeal for extra crunchiness. The last steps are to add melted butter and eggs for a rich and creamy texture. Be sure that you add ingredients in the right order to avoid egg and fat separating or clumps in the batter.

What To Combine Waffle With

Since waffles are traditional festive food, they used to be combined with sweet elements to treat you. Modern culture popularized maple syrup and butter as a perfect topping for breakfast. Yet, since they have a neutral taste, they can be combined with many things. For sweet combinations, you can use fresh fruit. Some add sliced bananas and strawberries, but also blueberries and mixed forest berries. Melted chocolate is the perfect topping for long winter nights, as well as baked apples and cinnamon. There are many waffle shops where you can choose between dozens of toppings, like crushed biscuits and whipped cream. Since they can be a bit dry themselves, it is recommended to combine them with sauce or some liquid topping.

Waffles can be eaten for lunch and combined with savoury tastes. You can even add chopped bacon and parsley or grated cheese in the batter to get a salty and delicious whole meal. Yet, many eat them with fried eggs or bacon. A popular dish is chicken and waffles. It is very simple; you combine fresh waffles with fried chicken and drizzle maple syrup over it. While many eat them for breakfast, they can be a full and nutritious lunch.

How To Make Waffle Without Waffle Maker

The cast iron waffle maker is the easiest way to make perfect and crispy waffles. The waffle maker is similar to panini maker but has specific grids that waffles are famous for. It is usually inside made of a non-stick surface, but you should know how to clean the waffle maker properly to avoid burnt crumbs in the new round. Also, it can be complicated to use it if you don’t make them regularly. This kitchen appliance isn’t big, but it still uses some space in the kitchen and can be impractical for people with tiny kitchens. Don’t worry, it is possible to make perfect crunchy waffles without the waffle maker and we bring you some of the most popular ways!

Waffle On The Stove

If you have a regular kitchen stove, you can easily prepare a waffle on it. First, you should prepare the perfect batter to have similar results. As mentioned before, it is recommended to use quality and fresh ingredients. For making it on the stove, you will need a grill pan or even a regular flat pan. It is recommended to use a cast iron pan which can reach high temperatures for the perfect crispy crust. When prepared, they may look like pancakes, but differ in texture and taste. Pan should be prepared on medium heat and covered or sprayed with oil. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes on each side to become crispy. Be sure that you turn them with a spatula to prevent cracking. The grill pan is ideal because you will get at least similar pockets that will hold toppings, especially maple syrup. Regular, the flat pan is also doable, but the biggest difference is the lack of pockets.

Waffle In The Oven

It is possible to make waffles in the oven, too. For baking in the oven, it is recommended to use a silicone waffle mould. This will take you minimal space in the kitchen, but you can use it for other recipes, like baking cookies in a toaster oven. The batter is the same, but you can make it a bit thicker to stay solid in the mould. Also, be sure to use oil in the mould to prevent sticking. The biggest advantage is that you can prepare more waffles at the same time. You should put them in a preheated oven and bake for 9 to 10 minutes. Be sure that you don’t overflow the mould because they will rise. Let them cool for a minute or two and release them by turning the mould. It is recommended to put the waffles without the mould again in the oven for an additional 3 to 4 minutes to become golden and crispy from the outside. The biggest difference is taste since they usually have tasted more like cake.
